Fire-fighters tackle cooker blazes

Fire-fighters in Rochdale dealt with two fires yesterday (Sunday 9 January 2010) involving cookers.
The first incident, at 01.41pm at a property on Leander Drive, Castleton, involved a grill pan in a cooker. Two fire engines from Rochdale attended.
The second incident, at 11.31pm on Beachfield Road, Milnrow involved food on a cooker. Three fire engines from Rochdale and Littleborough attended but the fire was out on arrival.
An elderly lady was treated by paramedics but declined hospital treatment.
The fire was detected by a smoke detector fitted by the fire service on a previous visit.
